Action, the Result of Faith

Matthew 9:2 - And, behold, they brought to him a man sick of the palsy, lying on a bed: and Jesus seeing their faith said unto the sick of the palsy; Son, be of good cheer; thy sins be forgiven thee.

How did Jesus see their faith? He saw their actions. The friends had brought a man sick of the palsy. A man unable to get to Jesus on his own, but a man who had friends who knew if they could just get their friend to Jesus he could be healed.

We are taught in James 2:20 - But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead? True faith will put a person into action. Faith is one of those words that is hard to explain, yet God explains it in Hebrews 11:1, "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen." According to this verse, faith is hoping for something that you cannot see.

Yet, when we look at the verse above, we find that the evidence of faith is action.  It is interesting that throughout the whole chapter of Hebrews 11, the faith of the saints caused them to do something.  Faith without action is dead.

If a person has faith, then action will follow.  For example, you got saved through faith.  How was it that you exercised your faith?  The faith you had that God could save you caused you to ask Jesus Christ to be your Saviour.  Faith will always cause an action.  If there is no action, then there is no faith.
